The safety, security and cleanliness of any facility is the responsibility of all who inhabit that building. At SCAS, we want to have an environment that is safe, comfortable and secure and that is conducive to learning. To that end, we ask the cooperation of all staff and students in the following.

Be aware that SCAS is equipped with a security camera system. Video monitoring occurs 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. The following is therefore necessary:

  1. Everyone at SCAS must have their SCAS ID card with them. This card is considered part of the 'school uniform.' The SCAS ID card must be worn and visible at all times. Students will not be permitted to attend class without their card.
  2. Headwear may not be worn inside the building; it must be removed on entering the building and remain off until leaving the building. Only headgear for religious reasons may be worn, as long as it is accompanied by proper identification.
  3. For security reasons, non-SCAS individuals must not be invited to the school. Unauthorized visitors must report immediately to the main office upon their arrival.
  4. Stairwells and entrances/exits must not be used as areas to congregate. This is dictated by the Fire Code.

Any dress or insignia representative of gang activity will not be allowed at SCAS.

Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the building or on SCAS property including the front ramp or front of school.

The speed limit on all Toronto District School Board properties is 8 km/hr. Please drive slowly.

The elevator is for the use of the physically challenged and in transporting equipment. Otherwise, students are expected to use the stairs.

Students are required to leave the building during a fire, a fire drill or other serious emergency. The continuous sounding of the fire bell signals the need to leave the building. Leave the building immediately by the designated fire route (posted in each classroom). DO NOT GO TO LOCKERS. Move at least 20 meters away from the building and do not return until the All-Clear signal is heard (3 rings of the buzzer). If you detect a fire, report it immediately.

NOTE: People in wheelchairs are to proceed to a stairwell and await further assistance.

Please have your SCAS ID card visible at all times. You must identify yourself quickly and respectfully to any SCAS staff member upon request.

The defacing, theft or destruction of school property is a zero tolerance item and may result in suspension or retirement.

Unauthorized visitors are not welcome. SCAS students who have unauthorized visitors will be held responsible for their visitor's behaviour.
